About Electric Cars

Electric Vehicles are powered either fully, or in part, by electricity, as opposed to exclusively relying on petrol or diesel. EVs can be either 100% electric or combined with a traditional gas-powered engine to form a ‘hybrid’ car.

By using electricity rather than fossil fuels, EVs reduce exhaust emissions and offer drivers extremely low running costs - recharging with electricity is only a fraction of the cost of a full tank of petrol or diesel, both financially and environmentally.

What’s more, EVs have fewer parts than a combustion engine and consequently require very little maintenance to keep them running efficiently.

Although the purchase price of an EV is normally higher than the comparable fuel model, the significantly lower running costs of an EV are not to be ignored. The International Council on Clean Transport concluded that the total cost of ownership of a VW Golf EV, for example, is in fact cheaper over a four-year period than its’ petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid counterparts.

There are over 200 different electric models available today. Aside from the choice, the Governments is offering incentives to owning an Electric Car in form the for tax break and grants - there's never been a better time to get an EV as your next car!
